The First Design: Bly Bloomers

My favorite outfit to wear for tennis is a dress, but the ease of one piece is quickly ruined with the poor fit and design of almost every bloomer short I’ve found. My difficulty in finding the proper complementary piece for my go-to tennis look inspired initial designs for Lādē Tennis.

I knew exactly what I wanted for bloomers and dress, but I couldn’t find them anywhere.  In early 2016, I was volunteering in my boys’ school lunchroom with another mother who also played tennis. We would always talk about our ideal tennis apparel. That conversation sparked late nights with sketches, calls for fabric samples and…nearly 3 years later…the launch of a  new tennis apparel line.

Because we knew what we didn’t want, the design process began as a process of elimination.  After some trial and error (and a dose of pure ignorance), we created the perfect tennis bloomers. The Bly bloomers will change the way you feel when wearing a tennis dress. This bloomer has been designed and constructed to smooth the waist band and sides, getting rid of the annoying and uncomfortable “side dig.” We added a high-rise waist band to ensure consistent fit and “stay up power” when the game is going down.
